Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Luna
I was Luna’s foster mom, and it was love at first sight.  She is a lab-beagle mix, and came into Brookline as a special needs foster
puppy.  She was picked up as a stray and was living at the Huntingdon County Humane Society.  The shelter asked for Brookline’s help
because Luna’s leg injury would make it difficult to adopt her out.  She could not put weight on her front right paw and was dragging her
leg, causing further damage to her paw.  Our vet thought there was permanent nerve damage and recommended an amputation.  So
Luna had her leg amputated, was spayed, and had two baby teeth pulled all on the same day.

She had a speedy recovery and is faster than fast now.  She is having all sorts of fun:  running with her friends at the dog park, teasing
her lab brothers (both age 12, they are not amused), trying to catch the birds and rabbits in the backyard, and watching Animal Planet.
Rolling over for belly rubs is her favorite thing.

After she stole our hearts and we decided to adopt her, we discovered that she has some quirky personal  habits, like eating her furry
brothers’ poop, eating dead earthworms (they hang out the side of her mouth like spaghetti), blowing bubbles in her water bowl until
she knocks it over, and snoring.  Of course, that just makes her more lovable.  Except for that first one, of course.  Luna is now 9
months old, and she is still only 27 lbs.  I can pretend that she is a black lab puppy forever!
