Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

My name is Charlie, I am named after Charlie Brown of the Peanuts cartoon. I live in Devon with my family of John, Margaret, Jack age
14 and Will age 12. I was adopted when I was 2 months old and it's been quite an adventure you see my human brother, Jack,
wanted a dog for a long time but my other human brother, Will, is autistic and acted scared around dogs. So, I am the first puppy for
the family and I had to teach them a few things about puppies. They have caught on quickly and now I have them wrapped around my
big paws!! My Dad's mom, Grandmere, came to visit from Connecticut last week just to meet me and she couldn't stop laughing at all
the mischief I got into.
I am a very BUSY puppy, I love to play and have lots of toys, I love to run around the backyard and chase balls or plastic bottles. My dad
says why buy toys when a plastic bottle keeps me happy? That doesn't stop Mom from weekly trips to Braxtons!! My brother, Will,
likes to walk so we go the Hilltop Park every afternoon for a nice long walk and for a special treat... a trip to Rita's for water ice for the
boys. Jack brings me to the bus stop in the morning and I get to see all the kids and moms. I am going to Puppy Kindergarten and
learning how to sit, stay, come, not jump. When my Dad makes the boys pb&J sandwiches he fills my Kong with peanut butter and I
go crazy. I enjoy the car and go lots of places, one of my favorite is the farm where Will goes horseback riding. At first I wasn't quite
sure what to make of the horses but now I am used to them and try to stay calm and quiet so as not to startle the horses. While Will
rides, I go for a walk or just sit and watch the horses in the field or listen to the 'clip clop' of the horses feet.
My family's friends and coworkers are very interested in me and they always want to see new pictures. My mom says more people ask
about Charlie than the boys!! Her locker at work is adorned with chocolate lab magnets from another lab lover. One says "Happiness
is being owned by a Chocolate Lab"!! I've gotten lots of presents from my new doggie 'friends' especially Ruby and Zoe!! I am excited
for the Puppy Reunion and I will be easy to pick out from my 7 siblings with my signature crooked tail!!
I love my new home and family and many thanks to my foster moms, Mary and Peggy, and Brookline volunteers, Pat and Cathy, for
helping Jack's dream of having a dog come true and for all the advice they have given to my new family!!
Love and puppy kisses,
Charlie Steers
