Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Gunner
Hi, my name is Gunner and I
wanted to tell you my success story.
I was officially adopted by my forever
family in mid January 2010.  In the
short time I have been with them I
have been witness to several
blizzards (thank goodness I am tall),
celebrated my first Christmas, New
Years and a few family birthdays. I
have a human mom and dad and
two big sisters.  I walk 3-6 miles a
day and can eat like a small horse! I
love learning new tricks and the
teachers think I am a very bright
dog. I graduated Good Manners
Level One class with my friends at
What a Good Dog. My mom cried at
the second class when all the teachers told her how well I was doing. They even used me as the key demonstrator dog to exhibit how
swiftly I learn commands. My good manners are improving and all the visitors that come to my house LOVE me. I am a little skittish with
other dogs so we take introductions slowly. I do, however, love meeting friends and neighbors. I used to be very “mouthy” but when my
humans “stand like a tree” and ignore me I realize that bad behavior gets me no where but ignored! My favorite place in the universe is
on my mom’s lap even though I weigh 75 pounds. I see myself as a small loving lap dog; my second favorite place is in front of the fire
place taking a nap. I have adapted very nicely to my crate during the day time when the family goes to work and school. I get amazing
treats and listen to classical music while they are gone. I love being outside with my humans and am a very fast runner. So fast that I
recently spotted a rabbit, forgot I was on my long lead, and nearly ripped my mom’s arm out of her socket, or so she likes to tell people!
Car rides remain another favorite past time and sometimes I even just like sitting in the back of the car when the family is shoveling
snow or doing outside work. My dad is so proud to walk me around the neighborhood.

I hear my family ask themselves sometimes if I love them as much as they love me. I sure do wish I could talk because I would tell them
about the places I have been and where I was compared to where I am, and I would tell them how happy I am to have found them! I love
them each individually yet differently but with the same magnitude. I am equally affectionate and share myself easily. I want them to
know there is enough of me to go around! This love thing is really big because my family cried enough tears to fill a swimming pool
when their pal Cody died this past summer. His were big shoes to fill and I think I have made their frowns turn upside down.
Sometimes we gaze at one another  and I can feel their love pour into me.

I cannot wait for spring and to learn more tricks. I have yet to display my full level of abilities and look forward to the possibility of some
agility training and long runs in the park. The stories are endless and if you want to talk to my mom sometime, please feel free to
contact the great ladies at Brookline Lab for her number. She would be more than happy to share with you her experiences and how
rewarded she feels to have had an opportunity with a rescue dog like me. Thank you Brookline Lab Rescue for rescuing me and
matching me up with my new family. I am so happy!

Your friend,
Gunner
