Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Gracie
Spring greetings to all the puppers and dog-
dorks in Brookline land! I’m writing to you with
my success story from last summer. I know, I
know…I have taken my sweet time writing this.
My mom is sometimes a little bit pokey about
getting around to things, and it seems to have
rubbed off on me.

Anyway, let me refresh your memory…I was
surrendered along with my fur-brother Turbo
when our owner decided we needed to go to
families who wouldn’t have to travel so much.
You see, our owner was traveling a lot, so we
were spending a lot of time at the kennel.  He
thought we would be better off finding new
homes.  So he arranged to surrender us in July.

In the meantime, this lady who became my foster mom was feeling really sad and lonesome because her pupper Hershey (another
Brookline gal) had crossed the Rainbow Bridge in May. She figured a foster would be just the ticket, and those extremely smart ladies
at Brookline decided we would be a good fit for each other. And guess what? They were SO right! We were such a good fit that my foster
mom decided to make our arrangement permanent. I didn’t let on at the time, but I had reached that very same decision. I just had to
wait patiently for things to fall into place.

So it has been almost six months since we made everything official. I’ve been to training class and have shown everyone that I’m a very
smart girl. I hosted another Brookline foster (Candy, now known as Annie) who came to visit for a couple of weeks during vacation
season last year. We had a great time together. In fact she stayed with me right before she went to her furever home in September. I
missed her after she left.

It wasn’t too long before mom brought me a new playmate: another foster, named Rocky. We got to be really good buddies too. He
stayed for ten weeks and has now moved on to his fabulous furever home. I miss him a lot but I must admit I like having Mom’s
undivided attention.

Finally the weather is a little nicer for walking, so we’ll be able to spend more time outside. I’ll have a chance to re-connect with the
neighbor dogs, and now that I’ve been to training class I’m looking forward to getting to know them a little better. In fact, I think our walks
might become big social occasions. One thing is for sure: Mom can provide some awesome refreshments. She brings these amazing
treats along on our walks. Once the other dogs find out about that, I bet I’ll be the most popular girl in town.

I can hardly wait for a chance to show Mom how well I can swim. It’s one of my favorite things. Maybe we can hit the beach pretty soon!
You might look for me in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue next year. I’ll be the one with the beautiful chocolate color, wearing next to
nothing!
