Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

Hi, my name is Dylan. I've also been called Dillon
and for a little while, I was called Wayne. That's 'cos
someone found me wandering around loose on a
street named Wayne. I do prefer Dylan, though. I'd
like to think it's more poetic sounding. Anyway, thank
goodness the people at Brookline Lab Rescue
found me, cos I was getting pretty skinny.
First, they sent me to the vet. I had worms in my
poop! Yuck. Then I had a little operation and I didn't
much care for that, but it's over now and I don't seem
to be feeling any different. Maybe a little less likely to
wander, but more on that later...
So, they sent me to live with foster parents and foster
siblings Harley and Tully. It was a bit scary at first,
but I'm pretty outgoing and gregarious by nature, so
it didn't take me long to fit in. FM & D like to go for
rides in the car, and while I like going places, I don't
really enjoy being in the car, unless I can ride
shotgun. I'm a great co-pilot, and I don't know why
FM doesn't care for it. There were so many new
smells and people and dogs and snacks, it was
worth it, even if I had to ride in the back!
A good dog never dies. He always stays. He walks besides you on crisp autumn days when frost is on the fields and winter’s drawing near. His head is within our hand in his old way. ~ Mary Carolyn Davies

I was really happy in my new digs, but I started hearing whispers about a family that wanted to adopt me. But I liked it there! One day FM
gave me a bath and the next day we went for a ride. When we got to the park (!) there was a really cool wire-haired dachshund named
Oliver, and a yellow lab named Ginger to greet me! (Oh yeah, and two really nice people attached to them!) Oliver and I hit it off
immediately, cos he's kind of still a puppy and he likes to play and rough-house! I walked around with the new man and woman and
their dogs, plus Robyn and FM Janet. I could tell the new people liked me a lot cos the next thing I knew, I was driving home with New
Dad! I tried to pull my co-pilot move on him, but he wasn't having any of that! Darn! So, I stayed in back and licked his ears while he
drove in order to help him find his way to my new home.
When I got to my new home we all went for a walk on the Delaware Canal Towpath. There were all kinds of new smells and sights and
people and dogs to meet. Everyone loves Dylan! But, of course! What's not to love? I'm gentle and affectionate and smart and eager to
please. I already knew a couple of tricks like "sit" and "down", and New Dad has been taking me to Doggie Manners Class. I'm learning
to "leave it" and "look" and go to my "place". I have a huge crate right next to Oliver and I'm really good at night when it's sleepytime. I
have so many new toys and there are games to play with Oliver and Ginger. My Dad bought me a martingale collar with peace signs on
it, cos I showed him my "slip my collar" trick. See, he doesn't know it, but that probably how I got loose in the first place. He calls me
Peace Dog sometimes. My new vet says I'm underweight, so I'm on extra rations! Woohoo!!! Things are looking up!
Thanks to Robyn and FM Janet's efforts, I have a fur-ever home! I'm so lucky the folks at Brookline found me and found a family for me
to love, (and I know they love me back, I can sense these things!) I think I'm gonna stick around. Life is good!
