Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Coco
Hi My name is Coco. I was born some where around Chambersburg, Pa I think. Anyway I spent the first four years of my life in a puppy
mill then some nice folks took me to a shelter and got me good doctor care. They saved me the first time, I had a big lump in my belly,
guess it was from all those puppies I had, but some of the docs said it was cancer but the shelter didn't give up they took me to
another doctor that decided to find out what it was. Well it was just my belly wasn't quite right and once they did the surgery I needed I
was fine!

The shelter was ok, I had a pen that was big enough for me and another dog so I had a friend all the time. I had a two legger friend
there that was my buddy, he wanted to take me to his home but he couldn't. Then after a year this lady showed up, said she was from
Brookline and took me in this big car and said I would never have another day in a kennel or nothin' like that. She said somethin' like I
would be takin' care of the rest of my life like never before thanks to Brookline and all the wonderful people there.

Well to this day I have not layed on anything that is cold and hard since she took me. When we first got to her house I have to tell you I
ain't never seen a kennel this nice she calls it a house!! WOW And it has not one TV but FOUR of them!!! How cool, I love the Dog
Whisperer and Scooby Doo of course, love the Scoob, I have to sneak watching it when they aren't around. Anyway when i got to the
new house I was afraid to go thru doors and there was other dogs and a cat there. I learned somethin' every day here and my foster
mom said that was my job to learn so I could go to a really good home that would love me forever. Well I found that home and I never
had to leave this one. My new mom and dad were my foster mom and dad! That is so cool!! For a while when mom would talk about
me going to another home she tried to smile but she would get this look and her eyes would get all wet and stuff. They rub me all the
time and boy do I love that!! And I follow them around and watch what they are doing and they feed me really good stuff!

But best of all they love me for me and sometimes that is probably not easy cause I still get really scared of people. I know there are
people out there that have hurt me before and I just don't trust everyone. Mom says we are going to work on that. She is buying agility
equipment so we can work on agility in the backyard, it sounds like a lot of fun! I can't wait to see her jumping thru hoops and crawling
thru tunnels! And I heel with her in the back yard now and I sit really good when she asks me to and I stay pretty good, I do drag my butt
some on the stay cause I just don't want her to get too far from me.

You might ask what are my favorite things now that I have a wonderful life. Yep the food is good and the great warm and comfy house
are nice but the very very best thing is I finally trust someone and I know my new family will never let anything bad happen to me ever
again. But the very best thing is when I look in their eyes I see nothing but love. And trust me I know you can't ask for more than that.
With their love there is nothing we can't do as a family. :)

It took me five years and unspeakable hurt but I have finally found my family and for that I Thank Brookline Lab Rescue and all the folks
who tirelessly work many hours as volunteers to save labbies like me. Mom told me how much you all work and how much you all care
for us lost labbies out there. I can never tell you how much it means to me that you found me and took care of me.

Brookline Lab Rescue, without you my mom and dad would not have found this little lost labbie, Thank You and sloppy labby kisses to
each and every one of you!
