Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Bailey
Hi, I’m Bailey! It took me 10 years but I now
finally have the life I had been dreaming of!

My first owner was a breeder who kept me in
a kennel my whole life. I didn’t get much
attention and had to sleep on a concrete
floor.  When he decided that I was no longer
useful, he tried giving me away but no one
wanted me. Who would want a sad, beaten-
up dog like me?  That’s when he called
Brookline to come get me. Boy, am I glad
they did!

I first went into foster care for about three
weeks while my new family worked out my
adoption. It was the first time I had ever been
in a home! My foster mom was very nice and I just enjoyed being a part of someone’s family.  I had trouble walking because I never
had much exercise cooped up in the kennel and now had arthritis. Lucky for me, the foster family gave me a nice, soft bed and took
me for lots of little walks to help me build up some strength.

Living with my new family has been quite interesting! I have an older sister, Molly, who is a year older than me but acts like she’s still
a puppy. Now I see what life could have been like if I had been in a good home from the beginning. I learn what I can from her, like
where to walk outside and what the good spots are for sleeping in the house, but I think she’s still a little irritated that she’s no
longer the only dog. She gets jealous and turns her back on our people when they’re giving me belly rubs and affection.

They have a cat, which often stays away from me but will say hi from time to time, and a little boy who is very gentle with me. He likes
to take me for walks since I don’t pull and can’t go very fast.

Even though I’m very sweet and never bark, my mom says I’m very crafty when I want to be. Sometimes they try to block me out of
some rooms when they go away but I can usually find my way in if I want to. You should see some of the blockades I’ve broken
through! My legs might be a little wobbly but I’m headstrong!

Thanks Brookline for finding me a good home! My family and I are very happy together.

Love & tail wags,
Bailey
