Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

This latest success story, thanks to Cheryl and Brookline, is about Rocky. Growing up in
Philadelphia, my first thought when we reviewed Rocky's profile was his name, Rocky (as in
Rocky Balboa, the underDOG). Some things in life are just meant to be, as can be evidenced
since Rocky the tall yellow lab is now a welcome part of our family.
We took Rocky home on a Friday night and a few weeks later officially adopted him. Rocky has
taken to our two young boys and they have taken to him. Rocky seems to have fit right in
without much of an adjustment. This speaks volumes about his wonderful temperament and
demeanor. Our oldest son has told me, during one of our recent evening walks, that Rocky is
the "best dog ever".
Rocky enjoys morning walks, or jogs, and usually naps the rest of morning while I work from
home. Another walk in the afternoon and some play time in the yard before the boys come
home from school seems to burn off most of Rocky's energy. Rocky likes to run and fetch
(although "dropping" the tennis ball is something we are working on). Another walk at bedtime
and Rocky is content.
Rocky has a big dog bed where he sleeps (and naps) comfortably at the landing at the top of
our stairs. This location lets Rocky "keep an eye" on all of us while we sleep - even though
Rocky is first to sleep most nights.
Rocky is very low maintenance and knows basic commands. Nonetheless, Rocky will be starting obedience training classes to help
him, and us. We are very lucky to have Rocky.
It will be a joy to watch Rocky (4yrs old) and my sons (4yrs and 1 yr) grow up together. We have Cheryl and Brookline to thank.
