Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Maverick
Hi my name is Maverick and I came into foster care
in July of 2009.  When I arrived,  there were not
one, not two but six canines waiting to meet me.
Well to say the least I was a little nervous.  You see
I am 5 years old and last year was very hard.  I was
a healthy lab and normal and then one day I had
seizures that left me drooling, shaking in my hind
legs and not able to control my mouth.  I would
drop my meals on the floor because I had a hard
time keeping food in my mouth.    Even though I
had been seizure free for a year my real mom
could not take care of me because we had a two
year old and she got into my puddles of drool.  So
most of my time was spent in the garage.  My
original mom got me rehabbed physically but
could not spend the time I dearly needed mentally.
Back to my foster parents.  With the six pack in tow, my foster parents got me to use my jaw muscles A LOT!   And now, thanks to
my canine friends playing tug of war with me, I no longer drop any food on the floor!  I can eat bigger treats without any trouble
now…. I go slowly ….and I can drop any object with the command of ‘drop’!  The six pack adopted me to make it a seven pack
and I am never allowed to go into our garage no matter what.  Thank you Brookline for helping save me.
