Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

Hi! My name is Laila, and while I’m not the sort to brag, I must tell you that it means “dark-haired beauty.” Perfect, eh? My new mom
sure thinks I am. And smart too! I learned that I shouldn’t go in or out of a door without permission the first day in my fur-ever home.
Mom was beaming with pride. And I know that I’m not allowed on the furniture, so I’m careful to vacate her bed before she gets home
from work. She can’t figure out how all that dog hair collects on the comforter. I’m not talking, but then I am a dog of few words. That is
unless that darn cat next door starts something.
We’re about to celebrate the anniversary of our first year together, and I’m looking forward to my special cupcake from the doggie
bakery. I don’t get them too often because I’ve got to watch my figure (or I’ll have to change my name, ha ha). I get to visit mom’s
friend’s house, although the horses next door scare me (they’re big!). And I’ve been to my auntie’s house on the mountain where I
usually have a good time, but last time, when we heard the bear in the woods, me and mom tripped over each other running for the
door. Mind you, I wasn’t scared, just making sure mom got inside okay. But the biggest adventure I’ve had so far was a visit to
Knoebel’s Amusement Park. What a day! I slept the whole way home.
But I’m content to hang out at home, too. I love to sun bathe in the back yard. And I enjoy our daily walks. Especially on trash day. Boy
do I love walking on trash day! I simply can not pass a garbage can, it’s just too irresistible. But mom’s no fun. She won’t let me do
anything but sniff them.
Well, that’s my story. In my opinion, having a bed of my own, lots of toys to chew, a bowl of fresh water whenever I’m thirsty and a full
tummy, is about as successful as a dog can get. Thanks to the caring volunteers at Brookline, life is good!
