Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

First and foremost, we just LOVE him! He is such a sweet and easy-going dog. He has
settled into life at our house which currently involves a renovation and he's handling all of
the workers coming and going really well. He has learned to walk on a leash (with the
help of a harness) beautifully and loves all of the good and interesting smells, the wind
blowing and the college students who stop to pet him! Unfortunately, he does not love
the other dogs! We are still following the advice of the dog trainer to distract him when
he goes nuts barking and pulling on the leash when he sees other dogs.
He hasn't been back to the vet since his initial visit just after we got him so I don't have an
official weight but I'd guess that he has put on about 20 pounds. He looks great. His
coat is shiny and he looks so healthy and happy!
Spirit loves to catch a frisbee, run on his leash alongside Will as he rides his unicycle
and generally run around our fenced-in back yard and sniff, sniff, sniff. He's a good
passenger in the car and loves the wind on his face. He continues to love his treats and
will follow commands of sit, down and stay (when treats are used as incentive, that is).
Occasionally he'll sneak up onto the furniture but ususally, he can be found on his
downstairs bed (as opposed to his bed in our bedroom).
It has been interesting to watch the kids with him. To my surprise they were slow to form
an attachment but they both have come to adore him. As do their friends!
I have gotten so much joy out of seeing Spirit physically look so much better, emotionally relax and become a member of our family.
Every time friends and family see him they comment on how great he looks and how happy he seems. He's a great dog and we're
so appreciative of the work of Brookline Lab Rescue! Thank you for the work you do.
