Four months after our previous lab passed away, my husband and I felt we were ready to start considering another dog. We
adopted through Brookline before and were matched with a sweet, loving girl, so we knew exactly where to go to find our new best
friend. We figured we would go through the approval process and the right dog would find his/her way to us eventually... thinking it
would take several months for that perfect match. Well, to our surprise, the Brookline volunteer already had a lab in mind! As soon
as I saw a picture of Sheila, I fell in love. Though she came from the cruel confines of a puppy mill, I could see nothing but
gentleness in those soulful eyes. And upon our initial meeting, my husband and children also fell in love. It didn't take Sheila long to
become a full-fledged member of our family. Her days of living in a cage and giving birth to countless litters are long behind her, as
Sheila now spends her time running freely in the backyard and sleeping on the couch. She is everything we were hoping for and we
look forward to many happy years together.
