Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

We were devastated by the loss of our beloved Black Lab, Cinder,
in May of this year. We had her since she was 7 weeks old and
she would have been 12 on September 1st. She had various
health issues we were dealing with for some time, but suddenly
became seriously ill and had to be euthanized unexpectedly. My
wife and I agreed that we would not get another dog until we were
retired, as our kids are older now and we both work full time. Of
course, life without a dog in the house was very strange, and we
were both on Petfinder in a week behind each other's backs.
Sara was Brookline's "Poster Child" on the web page the first
time we went to your site. There was a video of her hobbling
around with a fully casted front leg. She immediately got me to fill
out an adoption form and mail it in, never imagining we would be
matched with her. Sara has been here 5 weeks now. With the
warnings from the foster family about her destructive chewing,
stealing, and counter-surfing we really thought we were taking on
too much. We have been stunned how well she has adjusted
here. We have not lost a remote, cell phone, or game controller yet. She usually goes for a stuffed animal in my daughter's room but
gives it right back. She likes little things like those rubber bracelets and Chapstick. Of course we had to be right on top of her for the
first few weeks, but now her old habits are the exception and not the rule. She loves her toys, car rides (keys jingle and she's ready to
go), and daily walks, but will not resist the chance to just chill out and grab a nap where she usually ends up on her back with 4 legs
in the air--too funny. She still has her moments and we consider her a work in progress, but we are very happy that she is part of out
family and are grateful to all of you at Brookline for all that you do. We will be taking her for some obedience classes and will let you
know how that goes.
