Shelly's Success Story by her new family
We have been having so much fun with our new pal Shelly that it took us 3 months to
get around to writing her success story! We figured we better get it written before we
have to write a book about all we've done together!
The children in our family were looking for a dog that would be playful and fun loving.
The adults in our family were looking for a dog that would satisfy our children, yet have
good house manners and able to settle down well after playing. We had a tall order to
fill! We were so fortunate to discover Brookline Lab Rescue to help us find this dream
dog!
It just so happened that a dog named Katie was in need of some children who were
old enough to walk her, and play fetch regularly. Katie is a dog who was raised with
great house manners and loves children of all ages. This seemed too good to be true!
The only catch, a minor one, was that we already had a human in the house named
Katie so we had to change the dog's name. We chose to call her Shelly because we
love the beach and Katie's family told us she Katie loved the beach as well. She
started recognizing her new name without a problem.
Shelly has adjusted to her new home effortlessly. It is as if she was always part of our
family. We go everywhere we can together. Shelly loves the car! She loves to swim. We
love to play fetch with her water frisbee or sticks. She always brings the items back to
us and doesn't play keep away. She even makes sure each of the children get a turn at
throwing! She goes to all the sporting events and anywhere else we can take her.
Occasionally, she has to stay home, as you can't take a dog everywhere! When we get home she is always there to greet us with one
of her stuffed animals. We have lived up to our promise to provide plenty of play time for Shelly, and she has lived up to her promise of
good house manners. We are all very happy. The picture we have attached is Shelly with her stuffed spider, she is relaxing after a day
of fun!
Oh, and we forgot to mention, Shelly has perhaps the most beautiful coat ever, and a very expressive face. She is simply irrisistable
with her combined beauty and behavior.
Shelly's eight year old human sister wrote her own success story.
I like coming home from school and seeing her on the back porch with her tail wagging frantically. As soon as I come in I get changed
and go outside to play. When I open the door she goes bounding out and picks up her frisbee and brings it to me. When I throw it she
races after it and we have a great time!
