Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
I was officially adopted on Father’s Day of 2004. I have a new Mom and Dad and big brother Black Lab named Chief. He’s about 8
years old and was also adopted into the family 2 ½ years ago. We’re all getting along just fine. I’ve got a few things to figure out yet,
but for the most part, it’s just great. Mom and Dad tell me I’m a really good girl. I haven’t had any accidents in the house. I signal at
the door if I have to go out and they let me out with Chief.

Chief and I get a long walk every day. We go about 2 miles each morning on a split lead and then we play in the yard for a while
before nap time. I’ve been trained on the electric fence and it didn’t take long at all. I really like checking out the perimeter of the yard
every day, especially at night. We’ve got interesting things like squirrels, birds, cats and deer in the yard. When Mom and Dad work
in the yard, Chief and I play like crazy!

Since I don’t mind my crate, I go into the crate when the family goes out for a while. Chief doesn’t like the crate, so he sleeps in the
hallway and waits for me. There are quite a few dog beds around the house, so I have my choice of sleeping spots during the day,
but I really like sleeping under Mom’s desk while she works on the computer. I can really keep track of her then because my head is
resting on her feet.

Every morning Chief and I get to visit Mom and Dad in their bed before breakfast. I love a good pig pile. I would really like to sleep in
the big bed every night, but that’s a habit we are trying to break. It’s a little crowded and Mom says she can’t sleep with a 65 pound
black lab on her chest. Oh well, you can’t have everything!

I heard we might be going to obedience training next month or the month after that. I sure hope I can train Mom, Dad and Chief to do
what I want. Woof!
