Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
The way we found Rex seems like it was meant to be. When trying to get our son used to the idea of a new puppy, and asking him
what we would name it, he said Rex. This was before we even found him... We first went to the local pet shelters, and when they
didn't have any suitable dogs for us, they suggested petfinder... we went to that website, and typed in yellow lab puppy male, and up
popped the name Rex, and I just had to look at him. Rex was a little older than we were originally thinking, but he was housebroken
already! A big plus! We finally met him in July and loved him right away. He is a big sweetheart! ( with a few nibbles here and there)
He is very mouthy, but we are working on teaching him that we don't appreciate it! He will learn his manners in time... We did take
him to obedience classes, and he did very well... we had to work on UP, though, because he likes to lay down when he decides
he's done.. Let's just say he knows DOWN very well!! He graduated obedience class a few weeks ago, and is getting better all the
time. Our favorite thing to do with Rex is to go on long walks, I like to say a tired puppy is a happy puppy, and he doesn't try to eat
things he shouldn't have as much! He made a new friend in a German Shepherd about the same age and size as he is, they love to
run and play in the yard! He has a big pool to go swimming in, but doesn’t like it much, he doesn't go in on his own. He gets along
great with our two kids, and they just love him. (He did knock them down once, but is learning to respect them plus we keep a close
watch on him in the yard) We are so thankful for what the volunteers at Brookline do for all of their labs, if it weren't for them, we
wouldn't have our new big puppy! Thanks again! I'm sure Rex would thank you if he could talk!!
