Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Reds Mahoney
We adopted Reds right after the holidays in February, 2005.  He needed a home due to the
death of his owner.  At the time no foster homes were available so he went straight from his
first home to his second.  Why we even took him at the drop off sight we do not know.  He
was a mess.  No hair (had a rat tail) and was very over weight.  I guess we just didn't have
the heart to say no.  Ruben, our other lab, wanted to kill him which really made for a great
start.  Cinnie, our Brookline volunteer,  kept saying "just give it some time."  Our vet really
helped us a lot as she had 4 dogs that were adopted.  After being neutered (what a great
new home present) we started on the new Reds.

Well Reds has lost 26 lbs.,  has a beautiful coat (with the help of tyroid medicine) and is
Ruben's best buddy.  He will sit and watch me fish for hours, watch Ruben swim,  ride in the
boat, but doesn't want anything to do with the water.  We've come a very long way with Reds
and if the water is his only hang up,  that's ok with us.

Keep up the good work,  you have a great organization.
Sincerely,  Rob and Beth Belden

(His real name is "Patrick Reds Mahoney", #738)
