Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

Here is Maddie, another one of those “throw away“ dogs who had too much energy and took too much time to work with. The
Brookline volunteer that evaluated Maddie felt differently. The day she entered the shelter would have been Maddie’s last day here on
earth. Maddie was pulled from a shelter in Center city Phila, put in a foster home, given a bath, a warm bed and some love. She was
placed in a Brookline foster home with 2 others dogs, 2 dogs that she really didn’t like.
Her foster family took her on walks. As she was walking one would think that she had never seen the “outside” world, the birds she
watch intensely, the cars that passed she barked at, but always looking over at her foster mom. When they got to the bus stop, Oh
she loved the kids but they thought she was going to jump in her foster mom's arms when the arm on the bus came out. They stood
there wondering what this poor girl had been through. With some training and positive reinforcement she was on her way to become
a good dog. Soon she was placed with a single man with no other dogs. Her foster mom got the chance to see Maddie the other day
and she was VERY proud of her (and her owner). When her foster mom entered Maddie's new home she jumped up, tons of kisses,
and that doggie smile, that only the people whom have met her know about. She looks wonderful, such a shiny coat, and great
disposition! She is loving life and getting use to other dogs and learning to trust again. So here we have another “throw away” dog
that was given the 2nd chance and is doing WONDERFUL.
