Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Lady is a beautiful 4 year old female black lab with a very gentle, sweet
personality. When Lady's owner passed away, her family asked for Brookline's
help to find her a new home. While in our foster care, we discovered she had a
condition called hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid). Although she was very
beautiful, her coat was coarse and thin and her tail was skinny and patchy. She
had also become very lethargic on walks, which was unusual for Lady. She
started taking a thyroid replacement drug immediately (not very expensive).
Soon after, Lady was placed with a wonderful family, who understood that a
medical issue like this was something that could be easily managed and saw
beyond to the sweet, loving lab who needed a home. After about 2 months on
her thyroid replacement, Lady's coat had shown a dramatic improvement...she
now has a thick, silky coat with lots of underdown, hair covers her belly and her
tail is full and otter-like, as a lab's tail should be! She's more perky and looks
fabulous!
Her new dad has taught her to sit and take her pill nicely before being released
to get her breakfast or dinner, her grandpa built her a beautiful elevated feeding
station and likes to share his ice cubes with her (Lady loves ice cubes!) and
her mom adores her and takes Lady for lots of rides :o) Lady is a lucky girl, who
touched a lot of hearts during her stay with Brookline (as all of our fosters do
:o)). We're very fortunate to have so many loving families, like Lady's, who come
to work with us to help save these very special labs!
