Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
We had been without a dog of our own for about a year, and wanted to find a middle-aged lab, who would be happy with middle-aged
people (and our two cats). Our web searches led us to Brookline, and we were very impressed with the thoroughness of their
applications, forms and procedures. When we read about Jessie, who is a six-year old spayed yellow lab with diabetes, we wanted to
have her join our family. Since one of us is a diabetic, as is one of our cats, this didn't scare us away. In fact, we felt that we were
meant to add Jessie to our family.

We adopted her from her previous owner (whose work hours made it impossible for her to give Jessie the attention she needed)
through Brookline. After three weeks of fostering Jessie, her adoption became final on Monday, October 23. 2006.

Jessie is big girl (about 83 pounds), but not fat, although she may appear to be in some pictures, especially when lying on her side.
She is a very sweet dog, and has made the adjustment with ease. Both of our cats, Simon and Panda, are at ease with Jessie. We are
in the process of trying to train one another, and, fortunately, Jessie seems to want to please us. She is especially fun to play with,
since she actually gives back the retrieved object, unlike so many other dogs. She has adorable wrinkles on her forehead, which
crinkle cutely when she is trying to understand what we are saying to her. Jessie is very sociable, and loves meeting and making
friends with our friends and neighbors and their dogs and cats.

We are looking forward to many happy, healthy years with her.
