Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|

I guess its labeled "midlife crisis". I turned 50, I was divorced for 14 years, and raised two wonderful kids on my own, one of
whom left for college last year and my daughter leaving for college this coming fall. My yellow Lab, Sandy, who I love with all
my heart, turned 13, so I knew my time left with her was limited. Suddenly, it was starting to hit me that I was actually going to
be alone with lots of empty spaces to fill. All my friends encouraged me to go online and try to find someone to share my life
with, something I swore I would never resort to! But after hearing quite a few success stories I did just that with the hope of
finding that perfect mate. To my surprise I have met a wonderful gentlemen who shares my love of the outdoors, loves to walk
the nature trail, enjoys my company, and snuggles with me in bed each night. He loves and respects me and I share the
same for him, and he is actually my age… in dog years that is. Yes, this gentleman is an 8-year-old yellow Lab named Gus.
After months of searching Brookline's web site, I discovered Gus and he has joined our family.
It is amazing how you can take a complete stranger into your home and fall totally in love with them in one week (why can't
human love be as easy)! Gus has wormed his way into our hearts and when I look into his eyes I am filled with love once
again. He is comical, affectionate, well behaved, and just plain wonderful! I am so thankful to the volunteers at Brookline for all
their time and effort in helping me find Gus and a special thanks to the family who I know loved him enough to realize they
didn't have the time to give him and relinquished him. I hope they know his life is now filled with lots of hugs and kisses and
he is loved dearly. I will be contacting Brookline once again in the future when my beloved Sandy passes on and will open my
heart to yet another Lab but one thing I know for sure is that the "empty heart" syndrome won't be a part of my life for a long
time. Gus is truly a blessing sent to me when I needed him most… he is so much more to me than just a dog! Thank you so
much Brookline for this wonderful creature!
