Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Ginger was pulled from the Montgomery County SPCA in
Perkiomenville. She had been there for approximately two
weeks and nobody had shown any interest in her - apparently
she was extremely timid and would stay in the back of the cage
when anyone approached her. Since I was going to be her
foster "mom" following a stint in "charm school", I went to the
shelter on the day she was being pulled to meet her. She was
so shy and scared; all I wanted to do was protect her. She
spent several weeks in "charm school" learning the basic
puppy commands.

She emerged from training a little more confident then when
she went in but still hesitant with people. I'm convinced that,
since she didn't bark at me when I picked her, she
Ginger
remembered who I was - or at least that's what I tell myself : During the first couple of days, she would follow me everywhere
I went and look at me with those sad puppy dog eyes. I tried to convince myself that I wouldn't keep her and that at the end of
the two-week foster period, she would be going to her new family. When I look back now, I knew from the minute I first saw
her at the shelter that she wasn't going anywhere.
Ginger is now living a happy life, complete with a
chocolate lab "brother". She spends her time going for
walks, playing in the yard - frisbee is her FAVORITE (we
now refer to it as her "Wilson":), swimming at the park,
and, most importantly, being loved by her very own
family.
