Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
It's been just over a year since Bella joined our family. She is very loved, and apparently loves us right back! Many people remark about
how well trained she is, but we really lucked out with the amazing tricks her foster families taught her! She was 4 months old when she
came to us, and she snuggled into our family perfectly! Everyone loves to see us set treats on her paws in her stay position, then she
patiently waits for the ok to eat them. So excited when visitors come to the door, but she'll sit and stay when told (at least for a little
while!!!!). I think she views our UPS driver as one of her closest friends, since we get packages several times a week. Bella loves the
treats she receives from the driver, and also the treats that await her on the packages when she wasn't lucky enough to be outside for
the delivery! One night my sister in law laid a guilt trip on me about putting her in the crate. I felt so bad, and we left her alone in the
house when we went shopping. We returned home to find a feather bed on my living room floor! You just can't believe how many
feathers are in one little toss pillow!!!!!! I turned to my sister in law, both of us hysterical with laughter, and told her "This is why you crate
a puppy!!!" (see picture below!) Her sister Blue was over for a visit the other day, and I think she was a little jealous of all the tricks Blue
can do! So we're teaching her some more...she's just mastered the "turn" and I think we'll move on to the "Lassie" (begging) and then
the "commando"(Blue will creep across the floor on her belly like a soldier). She is still trying to play with her feline companion, but
Princess is still making it known that she's the queen of the house. Princess will actually chase Bella, and Bella runs away frightened!
It's comical to watch Princess swat Bella's nose when you know Princess doesn't have front claws! And of course our children love
Bella, and she follows them around like they're the best thing since Frosty Paws! We're sure Bella was meant to be with our family and
we think she knows it too!
