Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|
HERSHEY
Meet Hershey, a 10-year-
young spayed female
who came to Brookline in
October. Hershey just
loves life and is a total
sweetheart - she
absolutely LOVES
everyone she meets and
dreams of being your
new best friend. This
spunky gal is full of
energy (don’t let her age
fool you) and has lots of
love to give, she just
needs a chance to find
her new furever home.
Hershey cannot be
placed in a home with
cats. Please click here to

Hershey.
Talented artist and Lab-lover Sheila Wedegis has
teamed with Brookline Lab Rescue to raise
money for the Labs while also raising awareness
of dogs looking for their forever homes. Each
month, Sheila will create an original oil painting
featuring one of Brookline’s available dogs. The
paintings will be auctioned on ebay with 100% of
the proceeds going to Brookline. To see this

We have all heard the stories about the horrible living conditions for the
unfortunate dogs who are in puppy mills. Brookline will be presenting a
series of articles on some of the fortunate dogs who found their way from the
puppy mills into our care. The living conditions, lack of human contact and
general neglect for these dogs makes their transition into normal dog life a
long, painful and greatly rewarding process.
Meet Chance and his Mom Sheila.
Brookline was contacted by an
independent rescuer about a female
breeder dog who was no longer
wanted. Sheila had a 3 week old
pup who was blind. This puppy could be "taken care of" if we did not want to
take him as well. Of course Brookline took both mom and son into foster care.
Chance suffered from a congenital eye problem as a result of bad breeding
and was blind in one eye. His good eye was also severely compromised and
he would probably lose sight in that eye as he got older. Chance was seeing
a doggy ophthalmologist which was quite an expensive undertaking for
Brookline. Click here to read Sheila and Chance's story.

Princess Patcherella
Once upon a time there
was a beautiful but poor
girl named Patches . She
came from a very unkind
place where she was
made to live in terrible
conditions. She had to
sleep in the mud, stay out
in the cold and did not get
to eat or drink very much at
all.
One day a special
invitation arrived at
Patches' dog house. It
was from the royal palace
(aka BLRR)......

the story -perhaps you can

Sparky,
Being a good looking dog and all maybe you can answer: My
dog Copper is an inside dog, house broken, lots of walks,
swimming, etc. He even sleeps with me at night. My question
is: When I am doing something in another room and he is in
his favorite recliner,... click here to continue

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have helped our rescue throughout the year. Your support of our Rescue is much appreciated and we look forward to your continued support in 2009! Our hardworking volunteers work year round to help labs in need. To afford our volunteers time to enjoy the holiday season with their families and furkids, our rescue will close from December 15th, 2008 through January 5th, 2009. Please look for us to return to helping more labs find their “furever” homes in 2009!

Does this mean Brookline has stopped caring about the labs in need? Check Sparky's answer to this question.

Brookline would like to thank Pedigree® food for dogs, a brand of Mars for a
donation of $1740.80 through the Pedigree Adoption Drive foundation. The
Pedigree Adoption Drive Foundation is used to help shine the spotlight on
the plight of homeless dogs. Through no fault of their own, more than four
million dogs end up in shelters and breed rescues every year. Sadly, nearly
half of those canines never find a place to call home, a trend that the
Pedigree Adoption Drive Foundation hopes to help reverse. The volunteers of
Brookline share the foundation’s concern for homeless dogs and look
forward to making use of this grant in the continuing challenges and rewards
of this endeavor to rescue one until there is none. Special thanks to volunteer
Gwen for her successful grant writing efforts.
Happy Holidays from our Rescue family to your family!
