Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|
Hi! I am Trooper. At 6 months old, I'm just a puppy.
In the short months of my life I have been through a
lot! You see, I was dumped on the side of the road
and a very nice lady picked me up. She noticed that I
walked funny and took me to the vet. The vet wasn't
really sure what the problem was with my weak
back end. This nice lady contacted Brookline and
they got me into Foster care. Foster care has been
the best. My foster mom was really concerned about
my back end. I have problems going up and down
stairs, so I have to be carried. Thankfully I am still
under 50 lbs, but I am a growing boy. I met a new vet
and got my hips x-rayed. Turns out that I do have hip
dysplasia in both of my hips but I do not need
surgery. This may or may not be a problem for me in the future. But the x-rays didn't reveal why I walked
funny and was "not all there." So we had to make a special trip to see a neurologist. He was really nice
and wanted to have a fancy test called an MRI done. Man those things are really expensive! I had that
done, and wouldn't you know it, my brain looks normal. That is good news, but there is still not an answer
to why I am the way I am. The doc thinks it is a problem with my "processing" part of the brain. He said I
will probably always be this way, and it should not shorten my life. I know foster mom is relieved to hear
that but can you believe In just over a week I accumulated almost $2000 in vet bills? I must be a really
special dog if Brookline was willing to pay for all of that! Brookline has saved my life and has given me
everything that I need.
