Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Skye
Skye is a 7 year old English style black lab. She has recently entered Brookline foster care with 2 other dogs that had been living with her. Their owner fell on hard times and was not able to care for the dogs any longer. Upon entering foster care Skye and her 2 siblings all needed to be updated on vaccinations and they will all need to be altered as they were used for breeding purposes. Upon vet examination it was found that Skye has severe entropian in her left eye. Entropian is a rolling-in of the eyelid which causes the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub on the eyeball, which is both painful and often causes corneal ulcers or erosions. The corneal damage can also result in corneal scarring, which can interfere with vision. Usually the dog will squint and tear excessively. The only way to correct this condition is with surgery.
This is where Brookline needs your help!! Vet bills continuously mount for dogs like Skye and we rely on our fundraising and donations to help us pay for the care of these dogs. Brookline has a very special fund for medical cases such as Skye. We call it the Brookline Bright Horizon fund. With your donations we have been able to help several dogs needing extensive medical care including orthopedic surgeries, ear and eye surgeries.
