Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
|
Hi Friends! My name is Mayah and I
am a 6 year YOUNG chocolate lab who
is enjoying living in a loving Brookline
foster home. Before Brookline
rescued me, I spent the last 4 years of
my life living in an outdoor pen with
little human interaction and no vet care.
That's right - you know all those cold
winters and hot summers we have in
the Northeast? I was outside with no shelter during all of that! Those days
are long behind me though. Now I'm in a comfy home, with my own bed, and
loving foster parents and fur-siblings.
any veterinary treatment. So before the nice Brookline volunteers took me to my foster home, a mobile vet
came and did some tests and gave me shots. Turns out I have heartworm, and that is very dangerous.
Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms living in the
arteries of the lungs and occasionally in the right side of the heart. Brookline didn't bat an eyelash and
started the treatment as soon as I felt better from my shots. The treatment will take a long time though,
and it's very expensive. I'm hoping if you think Brookline is as great as I do, you might consider donating
to our Bright Horizons Fund, to help pay for my treatment and treatment for other dogs like me who need a
little help. If you do, I promise to send virtual sloppy kisses and play fetch for hours as soon as I'm all
better. Love, Mayah
