Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue
Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Kallie
was free, however the veterinary specialists that we had to consult to determine the extent of her brain
damage were very expensive - hundreds of dollars were spent on Kallie's medical care. Without the
generous donations to the Bright Horizons Fund we received from caring and concerned Lab lovers,
Brookline would have suffered serious financial hardship and Kallie might not have been saved.

Kallie's story fortunately has a happy ending! She was permanently adopted by her foster family, where
she will stay for the remainder of her life. Although the vets tell us that her life will be somewhat shorter
than normal due to her brain damage and seizures, we know that her remaining years will be happy ones
and all that she deserves.

Kallie was our second special needs Labs.  Brookline rescued her from a
situation where she had been severely neglected. Her owner died and Kallie
was left in the home by herself, with someone returning only every 3 days to
feed her. She had no other contact with anyone or anything until four months
later when she came to one of Brookline's volunteer foster homes. Due to her
social deprivation, Kallie developed neurological problems that manifested in
a head tilt and seizures when she became stressed at seemingly normal
situations.  The love and care she received from her Brookline foster home
