Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Jake(2)
Help us Restore Jake's Eyesight!!

Jake is a gorgeous black lab mix who is about 5 years old.
He was brought into a shelter in Huntingdon County over a
month ago by a family who had him for 2 years. They never
took him to the Vet and simply said they just didn't want him
anymore. They adopted him a few years back by responding
to a "free ad" in the paper. So this sweet boy was given up
twice through no fault of his own. When he was dropped off
at the shelter a month ago he was very scared. You
see......Jake is completely blind. He has fully developed
cataracts in both eyes. We are unsure how long he has been
blind but we know he has been without medical care for over
2 years. Not being able to see and being in an unfamiliar
place that is so noisy with other dogs was just very
overwhelming for him. When our Brookline volunteer came
in to evaluate him he wasn't sure he could trust her. Once
she talked to him for awhile he began to realize she was very
nice. He then did what he does best and that is nudge his
head into your chest so he can be petted! Our volunteer fell
in love with him. A week later Jake was moved into one of
Brookline's way cool foster homes! All the ladies at the
shelter LOVED him and were very sad to see him leave.
They shed happy tears for him as they said goodbye.

His foster family calls him a love bug because he loves
attention. He will lay against you or crawl into your lap if you
let him. They think he is a 10 pound lapdog trapped in a 95
pound body! He is a gentle giant. He got a clean bill of health
from our Vet except for the fact that he is completely blind. He
wants to play more but seems hesitant to do so. This big guy
hates bumping into stuff so it leaves him wary to move
around much. The good news is the cataracts can be removed and his vision can be restored
completely. He will then be able to see and not bump into the walls! Maybe even play fetch? The bad
news is that this is a very expensive operation.  His cataract surgery for both eyes will cost in excess of
needed surgery.

Can you find it in your heart to help this lovable lab get his sight back? Please check out how you can
donate to our Bright Horizons Fund and help Jake and other wonderful labs with their medical needs.
