Helping Labs Find Their Fur-Ever Homes
Callie
Callie has come a long way in the four months she has been in foster care. She is no longer
overweight, bashful and tired. She is a sweet Lab who loves to play with her foster brother, Harley.

Callie loves her morning runs, which have been a huge factor in keeping her diabetes stable. With
exercise and a strict diet, her insulin requirements have dropped from 50 units daily to 28, and she
now has puppy-like energy.  Her insulin shots are administered twice a day, after meals, along with a
thyroid pill. Her thyroid medicine costs about $60 for 250 tablets. Her insulin is $27 and lasts three
weeks, and the testing strips are $53 for a box of 50. Callie’s insulin level is tested every morning.

Callie is almost blind due to cataracts.  However, we were thrilled with the results of her recent
consultation which indicates that she is a candidate for cataract surgery!  Her surgery  is scheduled for
July 11th. The hospital has generously agreed to discount her surgery; however, we still need to raise
at least $2,000 to cover her surgery plus the additional funds needed to cover the cost of her
medications.  Please consider donating to our Bright Horizons fund to help Callie and other special
need Labs!
