Bode had a very rough time for a few days and no one knew if he would pull through. But thanks to the
Bright Horizons Fund, Bode was able to get the expert emergency care he needed. Bode will need a
follow-up with the cardiologist when he's six months old to determine the severity of his heart condition
and whether surgery will be required. But for now, Bode is doing well and continues to progress like a
normal, happy puppy. And now that his health is stable, Bode is looking for his forever family
Bode came into Brookline Foster care on June 9, 2006 and
spent his first days as a Brookline dog at University of Penn
Vet Hospital. Shortly after bringing 10 week old Bode home,
his foster family noticed that something was not right. Bode
was rushed to the vet hospital where his condition
deteriorated as he became more lethargic and started
having seizures. The doctors determined Bode had a
severe infestation of parasites that caused him to become
severely dehydrated and have seizures. The doctors also
discovered that Bode has a heart murmur and may have a
hole in his heart wall. After several days of treatment at the
hospital and close to $3,000 in vet bills, Bode improved
