Nummy

2/18/2012  Nummy here again, stealing some time on the computer while FM is shopping. I just found out next week I’m going to visit  Aunt Grace, another way cool Brookline foster home in PA.  FM and FD are going away for some alone time!  I have no idea why anyone needs alone time, I love being together all the time. Can ya tell?

Had a good spot on the bed!

For the past 2 weeks the den downstairs has been getting a makeover and all six of us had to watch TV upstairs on the king size bed, in the beginning it was fun but after a while everyone was getting grouchy. Maybe that alone time is a good thing for them, but I’m going to meet some new fur-friends and have a blast at Aunt Grace’s house. FM said I better be on my best behavior, but I’m always good, she knows that! Love Nummy

2/16/2012 Nummy here..I went to see the eye Doc yesterday and she says my infected eye is on the mend. She even cut my drops in half and said all the redness should be gone in a week or so. She was surprised at the great progress I had made. No applications for me though this week, I guess I scared them off with my “red” eye. That is ok…FM said when the right family comes along we will know and until then…well see how much I’m loved? and what you are missing! More later…Love Nummy

20 months and full of love!

2/13/2102…Great news..I had my re-eval tonight and I maintained my muscle mass…that means no more Water PT for me…Now I loved Water PT because of all the treats, but I am happy because now maybe my forever family will come and get me!..I just need lots and lots of exercise…but what Lab doesn’t? So that makes me more adoptable my FM says..my FD wants to keep me because I’m so lovable, but Mom say no cause then she would have to stop fostering and saving other dogs…so come on…get your application in and come get me!! Love and kisses…”The Numster”

Look how happy I am! 20 months and therapy free!

2/12/2012…Hey Nummy here! I just came from Camp Bow Wow..and I met the nicest people! This lady waited 45 minutes to meet me! She was so nice, I hope my eye infection didn’t scare her away…she was used to special needs dogs and that is me….Special special special! She even took my picture!!  I’m a love-bug and just looking for someone to love me and give me a good home. She sounds like she has that special place for me…..I’ll be checking the mail on Monday and Thursday ..paws crossed she will pick me!! Love Nummy

This was me...at 7 weeks...how cute was I?

2/3/2012…Aunt Karen took my picture…Aunt Karen took my picture….and here is the first of many!! ………I’m still looking for my “forever” family…is that YOU? Love Nummy :)

Handsome 20 month old Nummy

1/28/2012  Hello from the Fire and Ice Festival…Nummy here and everyone loved me! One lady cried over me…I”m almost sure I met my forever family today…just hope they do not forget how special I am. I had kids loving on me and older retired people too….and I heard how much everyone loves their dogs so I hope someone loved me. Everyone was telling great dog stories and asking how to be a foster home. I guess when they saw how special I am they wanted to be foster parents too….I”m waiting..maybe my family’s application will be there Monday morning! Love Nummy

20 month Nummy just loves everyone!

My Foster Aunts setting up at Fire and Ice

Hoping to find my "forever" family!

1/26/2012…

Come meet me Saturday!

Hey Nummy again….Still searching for my special family but wanted you all to know I’m making a special guest appearance at the Fire and Ice Show in Mt. Holly NJ on Saturday. I hope to be there by 11:00 but sometimes we do long walks in the woods in the morning but I will keep everyone moving to be on time! I will be wearing the orange adopt me vest at the Brookline tent where they will have all kinds of cool dog stuff you can get for just a donation….maybe free tennis balls too!….I love tennis balls and soccer balls! Guess what else? I moved up to the bed at night now, yep one night I jumped up and I have been allowed ever since. Tully has finally realized I may be here a little longer so he is dealing with it! It is very crowded  though so when Foster Mom says she is going to bed…I been noticing Foster Dad rushes up there to get a good spot, so by the time she gets up there…well you get the picture. Tully is 95 pounds and I’m 80 and I cannot mention anyone else’s weight but FM is wishing the King bed was a California King.

Anyway come out and meet me Saturday, I’ll be the best looking pup there. Here is info

Love Nummy

Hi all Nummy here!

Great news the Vet said I’m ready to begin my search for my forever family. My FM is working on my posting so everyone will know all my special needs and what kind of special family I am looking for and need. In the above picture I’m trying my hardest to get a treat with my paw and have also learned lay down and sometimes stay. We have not had much luck with leash walking, I tend to weave side to side since I’m blind in one eye.

Ok well I will be moving on up to adoptable real soon so keep a watch out, if you are as special as me!

Love and kisses for the last time….Nummy!

12/13/2011

Hi Fans! Nummy here. I started my second session of water PT so it looks like I will be spending Christmas with my way cool Foster Family. Look behind me in my picture I already have a stocking and as you can see in the other picture below I do not like the Santa hat. Tully and Harley were laughing at me when FM was putting it on. They have no room to laugh since they had pictures with hats and reindeer antlers yesterday!  Anyway the Dr. said I gained 2 inches of muscle mass in my back legs…wahooo and that I am stretching my back legs further and further which is great too.

Now don’t tell but I was snooping and I did see this giant rawhide bone with a big red bow, so maybe that will be for me. FM said I need things from Santa that make noise when they bounce because I have super good hearing and super super sniffer. She says the way I run around you would never know I have eye issues.

This may be my last update for a while….see all the hard working Brookline Volunteers go on “break” for the Holidays so they can relax and regroup so they can save even more Labs like me next year…so see you all “next year”

Love and kisses, The Numbster

No I do not like the hat!!

11/6/2011

Hi Everyone! My name is Nummy and today is my first day as a Brookline Foster Lab. I will be spending time in my foster home getting adjusted but I will be sending in updates as much as possible. My Foster Mom is on the puter a lot so I will have to sneak on every chance I get and tell you how I am doing!…I’m 17 months old and a neutered  full bred yellow Lab. I came from a home with lots of dogs and cats and we all got along really great..Well this clock change thing has me all tuckered out, plus getting a new family and new fur-brother and new fur-sister is exhausting..Talk to you soon, Love Nummy

Harley, Tully and Me..Nummy..I'm the cute one on the right!

11/9/2011

Nummy here again…I’m going to tell you my story today. A really really nice lady in PA saved me and she took me home and called me Nummy! I lived with dogs and cats and we were one big happy family. Now I do have a problem with my back legs and some issues with my eyes so that really nice lady in PA turned to Brookline Lab Rescue for help. Though it broke her heart to give me up, she knew the right thing to do for me was to get me the help I needed! So now I’m living in a way cool Brookline foster home with a fur-brother Tully and a fur-sister Harley. They were both Brookline Lab Rescues too so they know all about what is going on and are helping me learn the ropes!!

I'm doing really good too.

Water PT is so cool!!

Last night I started Water PT for my legs (check out my great figure in the picture, everyone says I’m so handsome) and on Friday I’m going to see a Dr. about getting my eyes fixed and ya know what… Brookline is paying for all of it!!!. That is what they do, they save us Labs and fix us up if we need fixing and find us great homes to go to and all because they know we are just about the best dogs in the whole world if I do say so myself.

I need my beauty rest...

11/10/2011
Now today we went to the bestest store ever…a Pet store..yup..it was called Cutter’s Mill and they had a one day coupon on dog food, so my FM (foster mom) strapped on my adopt me vest and off we went. Oh the smells and great things there. I was helping myself to everything I could reach and winning hearts at the same time. Everyone thought I was beautiful and two people asked for my FM’s business card that has the Brookline info on it and they said they will check me out on my blog, so I hope they are reading this! Everyone who worked there was very nice and they did not care that I was helping myself to everything that I could reach, they are definitely a Lab friendly store…I came out with bones and treats hidden everywhere in my adopt me vest!
Well it is nap time now..I have to get my beauty rest.
Love Nummy..

Tired from Water PT

11/14/2011

I’m so tired…If my picture looks like I’m still a little wet, that is because I just did 1/2 hour on the treadmill in water. But I’m doing so good and I get treats almost all the time I’m walking. The Tech there said the Dr. said I have great muscle mass in both back legs and it measures the same… while I have no idea what that means everyone at PT was happy about that. I also found out that my measurements of  my leg extensions are at 15 and normal is 12 which everyone again thought was awesome. They said some pups with bad legs come in at 25……so things are sounding good…

Tully, Nummy and The Queen Harley

I have learned to play Tug with Tully and sometimes he lets me win and sometimes I let him win. When Harley plays we both let Harley win. If you don’t let her win she just take the tug toy and goes to her room with it. She really is cute though  so I don’t mind letting her win at all. She has this soccer ball that she shares with me so we are buds. I can see the soccer ball much better than the tennis balls so I’m glad she shares.

We share the soccer ball!

Tomorrow I’m going to Karen’s house for professional photos so check back with my blog tomorrow night to see how handsome I really am.
Love and kisses
Nummy

I think Fall colors suit me!

11/20/2011

Nummy here! A lot has been happening to me lately! We have really been busy! On Friday I went to NorthStar vet Hospital to check out my eyes. I sat like the perfect gentlemen I am and let them put tear tabs in my eyes and then do a ultrasound on my eyes to check the retinas. I have a detached retina behind my left eye and do not see much out of the left. I have a cataract on the right eye so it is like looking thru fog. But since I have been like this since birth I get around really great. I chase the soccer ball, wrestle with my fur brother and sister and can sniff out the tennis ball like a tracker dog! The vet specialist said since one of my senses  is bad that makes the others better!..lol the better to sniff what is on the counter I say!…Then on Saturday we went off to get new xrays of my legs. Monday we go back to water PT and talk to the leg specialist to find out what the xrays say…stay tuned…..Oh and just so ya know here is a picture of me watching the softball game this morning….It is know wonder I sleep so good, this foster home is exhausting…after the softball game we then had to rake leaves…I get paid with treats! Love Nummy

That guy was definitely out at third base ump!!

11/21/2001

Today we had water PT and then tonight we go back with my new set of xrays to discuss my options and check out my legs, hips and elbows. Stay tuned I will bring everyone a update tonight when we get back, as long as I can sneak on the computer. Foster Mom used to be on all the time but now she says she needs a break and lets me type sometimes. My best game is tug and soccer, you can see in the pictures…I see just fine and get around great, I should I have been like this since birth….ok it is dinner time, my favorite time of the day so I will be back on later with my update after I see the Doc!

Nummy sit!

Watch the ball....

And of course those great tug toys handmade by Brookline volunteers are the best!

11/21/11..I promised a update from my xrays…my left leg is worse than the right and the dr thinks water pt will continue to help me and put off surgery for a while maybe forever…so I guess we have some good news…night night..love  Nummy,…it has been a busy day!!

Life is good in my cool foster home!

Night time snuggles <3

11/24/2011

Nummy here, just wanted to wish everyone Happy Thanksgiving and say I’m thankful for Beth for saving me and for Brookline for saving me and for whoever is going to adopt me and give me the great life I deserve. Oh and remember turkey is not good for dogs….so any dogs out there do this when offered turkey…no thanks!  MOV05406

11/27/11

Foster Mom spoils me and lets me up on the couch next to her for snuggles. I guess because I do not see that good I like to be close and touching someone. Anyway last night we were all watching a movie and the couch was full with Tully and Harley and Harley’s new cushion which takes up half the couch, that girl is so spoiled!!

Anyway me and FM took the recliner. Yep all 80 pounds of me laying on her lap! I could not have been that heavy though she fell alseep during the movie!

Tomorrow is more water PT and more discussion about my legs…the big decision is coming…therapy or surgery…hoping for PT that treadmill in the water is so fun!!

‘Love Nummy!!

Yep that both of us in the same chair...Fm was snoring..but don't tell!

12/7/2011

Hi Nummy here!

The word is in …another set of water therapy. I love that so much that I get in before it is time, just to started on the treats! The Dr. said my muscle tone has increased and I’m stronger and extending my back legs more and more between water PT and long walks in the wood everyday with my FD! The walks are getting better too, I’m learning my way around, I have run into a couple trees but I mostly stay on the heels of my fur-brother Tully and he leads me….

Tully and Nummy

FM says it is amazing how much I see out of my one eye, she swears you will never know I’m blind in one eye.  The Dr. thinks there is no reason I cannot have a active life. I’m only 18 months old and yes I will get arthritis later in life like all big dogs, maybe soon than most, but with the right special family who will continue to give me lots of exercise, love and patience, I’m going to make a family a fantastic dog.

Grabbing a tennis ball to play….from my basket!

I’m a snuggler too, I have to lay against your leg, lay on your foot, lay against you on the couch…I’m just a lover and cannot get enough of love love love….I’m beautiful and loving and gentle so maybe some special family will see how great I am and see past my issues…? maybe someone? are you out there…I hope so…cause my foster family already loves me so much!!

Love and sloppy kisses Nummy
