My journey with Brookline begins tonight.  I went to the vet &
got all of my shots.  I even got some yummy treats.  I only weigh 43 #.   The vet says I’m ribby & I need to put on weight.  She also said that I may be going into heat, whatever that means.  I think it’s because I’ll finally be living “inside” where it’s warm.  You know it got awful cold last year out in that rabbit hutch when I was just a little puppy.

My foster moms say the vet was right.  I’m in heat.   Now I have pretty little panties to wear around the house. The vet told my foster mom that I could get a job in Vegas

I chased a ball today!  I’ve been watching the other dogs run after them the last couple of days & today I just chased one myself.  :)
I love to run!

Yesterday I went to work with my foster mom.  She works in a place called a nursing home.  I was having fun running around in this big empty room… until people started to come in.  Then I got kinda nervous and hid in my foster mom’s office.  She made me come out a few times, but I wasn’t too sure I liked it there when there were people around…so I tucked my tail and tried to go back in the office.  Today I got to stay home and I liked that better.  My foster moms said some day I won’t mind meeting a bunch of new people and I might even like it.  I hope they’re right.

Today Nona and I played chase in the yard.  Nona didn’t play too long, though, cos she wanted to chase tennis balls.  I’m still trying to get Rudy to play with me.  He wrestled with me a little today, but not for long.  My foster moms said he’s getting old and can’t keep up with me.  But I think he’s doing just fine.  He’s cool!

I’m being a really good girl in my crate.  And guess what – I have my foster mom trained real good!  Every time she opens the crate door, I run in and then she gives me a cookie!  Not bad, huh?  It didn’t take her long to catch on, either.  She’s pretty smart.  I stay in the crate at night time and when my foster moms have to go out.  And I never fuss about it.  But boy am I excited to get out when they come home!  I make the whole crate shake!!

I found a cool rope toy and I like to chew on that.  I like the hard bone, too.  Oh, and sometimes I chase a tennis ball.  And I like to run around the yard.  A lot!  Today I found a stick and I ran across the yard and leaped in the air and bounced in circles with my stick in my mouth.  My foster mom said it looked really cool.  It felt cool, too!

 Hugs and kisses,

Trixie

Trixie had been showing some “resource guarding” issues with the other dogs in the home.  She would growl & snap if another dog came near her crate while she was eating or if they approached her when she had a toy.  This isn’t unusual behavior for a dog that was isolated and didn’t have the opportunity to learn dog dynamics but it isn’t acceptable behavior for a well-mannered young lady so we starting working to resolve the issue.  We’ve been working on NILF (nothing in life is free) and making her do a sit before getting her treats, dinner, toys & pets.  We also started her on “content-um”, a calming supplement.  We haven’t noticed any guarding issues for about a week now.  Yeah for Trixie!  :)

Last night my foster moms took me to the hospital.  I didn’t want to stay there, but they told me Doc Melissa would take real good care of me.  I met Doc Melissa this morning and she was super nice to me.  So was everyone else.  Doc Melissa said she can’t believe I’m a puppy mill dog cos I’m so social.  She also said I’m the “perfect Lab” cos I will always look like a little puppy.  I think Doc Melissa is the “perfect Doc” cos she took real good care of me and my foster moms said she saved the rescue lots of money.

I’m not sure what all happened today…but I got really sleepy and when I woke up I felt kinda sick to my belly ….and my belly hurt.  Doc Melissa gave me meds to make the pain go away so mostly I feel really sleepy now.

When we got home, I kept falling over, but I wouldn’t lie down.  My foster mom moved my back legs to help me sit.  I moaned when she did that.  Then she moved my front legs to help me lie down.  I moaned again.  My foster mom laid beside be on the bed and rubbed my back.  I liked that and finally put my head down and closed my eyes.  Then I heard my other foster mom calling the other kids in from the yard.  She said “Let’s go!”…so I jumped up and ran to the gate.  Foster mom #1 said “Hmmm…are you milking this???”  What’s that mean?  I’m not sure, but I’m too tired to figure it out.  I think I’ll go back to sleep.  Good night, everybody and thanks Doc Melissa!

Hugs and kisses,

Trixie

I’m looking for my fur-ever home now.  I sent Santa a letter asking him to help me find a family.  I hope he can help me out.  :)

Santa came through for me and I’m getting my Christmas present early!  In a few minutes I am heading out to meet my very own forever family!  I’m so excited.  I’ll have a fur-sister to play with and my new mom and dad like to run so I’ll get lots of exercise.  My foster moms say I really need that.  I don’t know why they say that… all I know is I love to run and run and run some more…and jump into the air and then run some more!  It sure feels great to be able to run!  I can’t wait to show my new family how I love to run!

Thanks, Brookline, for taking such great care of me and helping me find my forever family!  You guys are awesome.  My foster mom can’t stop kissing me today.  I don’t know what that’s all about, but I like it and I kiss her back.  :)

Hugs and kisses,

Trixie
