Well it has been about 6 days since my surgery and my eyes do look better but obviously not perfect.  I still have some swelling, but the cone is off and I am free once again!!  I really didn’t mind the cone too much, because I am an easy going girl.  The Doctor did find a little tumor on my right top eyelid that he removed in addition to the cherry eye surgery.  He said he had to work REALLY hard on my eyes because the cartilage had been twisted and scarred from so many years of the tear ducts being displaced.

BUT, that was then and this is now.  This morning I had a little play jaunt with my fur brother Jake.  I was play bowing and going all around, and he just barked at me.  What is up with that!  That barking thing is so old school, really not for me!  I just wanted to play a little bit!  My foster mommy was so excited to see me happy again, she was making all these noises, I guess she was just excited.

That is all for now, I just wanted you all to know how I was doing.  My foster mom is going to put me up for adoption soon, so look for me on our website.  I know she really does NOT want to give me up as she thinks that Jake and I are girlfriend/boyfriend now, but I know she has to make room for another dog like me who needs a little help.  Talk to you soon!

I have been in my foster home for about a month now and I am getting my eye surgery on Wednesday.  Wish me good luck!!  I hope this surgery works as I would love to have my regular eyes back.  As far as the rest of my health, I am doing well.  As you can see from the pictures, my hair is really growing back nicely. misty_011_(Small)
My foster mom calls me “grand” because I am such a nice looking gal.  My foster mom loves my big paws and sturdy stature.  Since I have been here I have really mellowed out.  Being in a home is a great place and I am so content.  I know I am being cared for and most of all I LOVE the air conditioning.  I prop myself right on my blanket in front of the vent every night!  And speaking of nighttime, when I first got here, I was a little stressed at night.  But now, I can sleep in until 9:00am if you want me too!!  My FM takes me for walks everyday and I love it!  But then I am pretty much done for the day.  I just like to lie around and get belly rubs every now and then.
So I will check back after my surgery to let you know how it went.  Check out my pics too, one before and after and hopefully I’ll have a good “after” picture of my eyes soon!

Hi, I am Misty, a 5-7 yr old chocolate lab.  I had a rough start in life as I was used to breed many, many, puppies.  I was dumped at the Berks County Humane Society in the middle of the night (assuming because I could not produce any more pups) and did not know what was going on!  Those nice people took me in and gave me the greatest care in the world!!!

I loved it there – food, water, people who took care of me and walks!  What more could a girl ask for?  After getting spayed, mammary gland tumors removed, burned skin healed, and dental work done, I felt like a new woman!  Even though they had to take out almost all of my top teeth, I can still eat anything like a champ.

This is where I was shaved to heal my burns.

Then the day came!!!!  My foster mom from Brookline came to pick me up.  Oh, I loved her the minute I saw her, and that little guy that was with her is pretty special, too!  I was a good girl in the car, because I wanted to show my foster family that I could live with a family and figure out what a house was.

Sure I had a few accidents at first, but now I am good to go and even have run of the house sometimes when my furbrother knocks down the baby gate!  My only problem now is getting rid of my cherry eye.  You know that thing that some dogs get in their eyes that looks like a pink marble?  Well, I had one surgery to correct it, and it did not work.  So now I am going to see the ophthalmologist in two weeks to see if he can help me.  I hope he can because I think I am pretty darn good looking, and I would love to have normal eyes.  Even though it does not hurt, a little nip and tuck every now and then can’t hurt a girl.  And speaking of a tuck, my belly is tightening up every day, having all those pups makes a girl a little saggy (you know what I mean?).

Well that is all for now, we will chat later and I can let everyone know about my new adventures.
