Gunner

Gunner is a 2 year old male yellow lab that was rescued from a shelter.

Gunner is a 2 year old male yellow lab. He is neutered, house trained, and crate trained. Brookline took him from a shelter near Gettysburg as his time was running short. We happily opened our foster home to Gunner just a little over two weeks ago.

We continue to work diligently on Gunners manners and he continues to progress. You see, Gunner, through no fault of his own, was not taught manners. We are still working on ‘stay’ and how to play nicely with other dogs his size. What Gunner has learned in two weeks is to sit, lie down, give paw, and to walk on a leash nicely. Just recently Gunner had some “firsts’. His first trips included a trip to a pet supply store, first walk in a housing development, first visit to a fosters grandma’s house, and first meeting with a bishonpoo (small dog). During all of his trips he behaved like a good boy. We’re very proud!

I'm one handsome dog aren't I?
Other interesting facts about Gunner include: he loves long walks, fetchig balls, and his belly rubbed. He looooves car rides. It doesn’t matter where you’re going, just as long as he’s traveling too. He loves lots of attention and hugs. It’s hard not to because he always looks like he has a smile on his face and he’s so handsome. That red-fox like coat is a show stopper!
More updates to follow!

Gunner loves to play!

I attended my very first event today! Wrapping for Retrievers was held at the Borders bookstore in Whitehall, PA. What a wonderful event to help raise funds for my fellow rescued fur friends. I don’t like to brag, but I looked pretty handsome in my vest and furry white and red jingle bell collar. There was so people and things to see and smell there! Oh the attention I received! My buddy, the pleasant greeter at Borders, and I stood side by side near the front doors. I couldn’t help myself, I didn’t want to miss a moment. And then there was this 1year old boy that was so much fun, the swish of my tail made him giggle.

Here I am in my jingle collar - pretty snazzy, huh?

Did someone say road trip? That’s right, today I joined my foster family, (and foster fur pals), in their tradition of selecting their family Christmas tree. We went to Hidden Pines tree farm where there is a rolling hillside of so many trees. To my surprise there were many other labs just like me! After winding back and forth through the hillside we found the perfect tree. What a beautiful sunny day to spend time together.

This tree farm is a lab's playground!

Two fantastic happenings in one day, is that possible? First I am announced that I’m now available for adoption, woohoo! Don’t miss the chance to learn more about me on Brooklines Available Dogs page. The second awesome thing that happened today is …it’s snowing! Both are so exciting to me. This white stuff sure is cold and wet, but so much fun to run around and play in.. I don’t know what I want to do more, sniff the snow or play in it? Too bad hot chocolate is bad for me because it’s sure a great day for a warm mug of hot chocolate- with extra marshmellows! Oh well, getting cozy near the fireplace and some dog treats are just as good I suppose. Well, I better rest up for now as I’m most certainly going to be playing in the snow more this afternoon. I hope you’re enjoying the snow as much as I am. Talk to you soon!
