Hi I'm Gracie, a beautiful Chocolate lab
Hi, everyone! My name is Gracie. I’m new to Brookline and new to this business of telling people my story, so please forgive me if I forget a few things as I write this first chapter. I’m Turbo’s fur-sibling. You can read all about him on his page in the foster dog blog. (And if you’re talking to him, please tell him I heard he’s doing great and I want him to know I’m doing great too!)
I’m seven and a half years old. I came into foster when my person had to move out of state and couldn’t keep his fur-kids. I have made a really smooth transition into my new living arrangements. My foster mom keeps telling me she can’t believe I have settled in so quickly and easily. We are getting along fabulously!
We go out for several walks every day. Actually, the last couple of days, the first trip out in the morning has been a one-mile run. I’m pleased to tell you that I have no problem with that. We stay together and keep up a nice pace. My other outings are walks, and I’ve had a chance to meet several of the dogs in the neighborhood, as well as quite a few of the people. I’ve been a little bit reserved and cautious for a couple of minutes on my initial meeting with the dogs in the neighborhood, but then I’m ready to rock! One of my new friends is a little poodle. He’s pretty shy, but his mom told my foster mom that he’s been more at ease with me than with any dog he’s met around here, and she thinks it’s because I’m so calm and relaxed with him. How ‘bout that?? By the way, I do love going for walks, so I make it easy on whoever is walking me.

Does it really look like I need to lose a few pounds?
I am a really good girl in the house. My foster mom allows me full run of the house while she’s out, whether for a few hours or a whole day at work. I’m a complete angel when she leaves me alone…I don’t want to do anything to make her think I can’t be trusted! I don’t counter surf or trash-pick or get up on the furniture, and of course I don’t have accidents. Bonus points: I don’t bark when I’m home alone either. I’m happy to hear my foster mom arriving home, and I’m there to meet her at the door, but I don’t jump up or try to bolt out when she comes in.
Foster Mom thinks I could stand to lose a few pounds. I don’t know…I wonder whether that’s just an excuse to get me to run with her! She tells me she’s going to make green beans a part of my daily dining routine. Okay by me…I’m willing to give it a try. Anyhow, I bet the running and the green beans will take off a couple of pounds. And if that makes FM happy, then I’m happy too! With or without a little extra weight, everyone tells me I’m a beautiful girl. I hope you’ll agree when you take a peek at my photos.
Stay tuned for the next installment in my story. There’s still so much to learn!
XOXOXO — Gracie
