Chase (FKA Foxy)

Chase is a beautiful & sweet 7 - 9 yo female looking for her new home.

7/9/11

Chase (formerly Foxy) is doing great…swimming in the pool every day, getting her (minimum) three times / day walks.  She has met many people and dogs, and has done really well.  Excited for the first minute, and then she’s ready to move on. No jumping, and no signs of aggression.  The neighbors are really impressed with Chase.

Since going back to work after the July 4th holiday, my dog sitter has been taking care of Chase for the mid day walks.  The dog sitter is really surprised and amazed at how friendly Chase is.

Chase is really good in the crate.  No escaping incident again.  At night, she goes inside the crate on her own…and stays there all night, with the gate open.

Yesterday, I brought Chase to my vet for a general check up.  Blood work and urine culture results look normal…actually, great!  Vet’s assessment of vitals – great, ears – great, teeth – ok, but not too bad!  Weight – 60.4 lbs.  So far, so good. I will likely take Chase for her oral care next week.

I still keep Chase downstairs (with access to the family room, a bedroom, bathroom, and the laundry room…and the backyard!)  The cat has the upper section (with access to my bedroom, another bedroom, the kitchen, dining room and bathroom.)  I think that’s a good compromise for now….I hope that eventually I won’t need to keep them separated.  I’m hopeful.

Hanging with Dad!

I’m still working on Chase’s SA….

Carolyn – thanks for the package of goodies – snack, leash, bandana, toys.  Chase doesn’t really care too much about the toys, actually, any toy.  Loves the snack though.

A quick update…she’s very friendly with people and other dogs (she’s met 5 different dogs around the neighborhood), an easy walk, a good swimmer, well behaved during baths (yes, baths), and not fussy with food.  She doesn’t know basic commands (yet.)

On the challenges…..I believe she has separation anxiety, with constant and nonstop barking until she sees me.  Watches my every move.  And on the two occasions when I left her alone for an hour or longer, she had two accidents inside the house (did both 1 & 2.)  So these are the 2 areas that I need to work on with FOXY / CHASE.
