Ollie, Black Labrador Retriever, 11 months old, Male

Ollie

March 30, 2018

I am an 11 month old long coated black lab.  Yes, that is a real thing. Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue appreciated how handsome I am and placed me in foster care. I must really be handsome because my foster mom keeps telling me I am.

So, the neutering was not fun.   NOT fun at all!  But, I am now up to date on all of my shots and heartworm negative.  My stitches are self dissolving so I will not need to go back to the vet, whew!  They told us that I should be all healed in about 7-10 days.  I also found out that I weigh 74 pounds and fm says most of that is probably fur.  She brushes me daily, but I’m not shedding at all……yet.

I was so happy to meet so many people at the meet and greet last Sunday.  Foster mom says she will post me as ready next week.  That way I will be fully healed before I head out to my new home.

My foster mom said she can’t wait to take me to the vet this week to see how much I weigh and to get me all my shots and have me neutered.  I don’t know what neutered means, but it sounds fun and as long as I’m with my foster mom, I’m good.

Since Thursday I now live with my new fur brother, my foster mom and dad and two human sisters.  I love those girls.  They play with me and hug me and I love snuggling with them.  Right now I’m sleeping in my crate at night and when everyone goes out.  And you know what, I actually like it.  I even get treat toys when I go in there.  Since I’ve been here I haven’t had any accidents in the house.  My fur brother is pretty smart and he’s teaching me the ropes.  He even showed me how to go up the steps to see my sisters in their bedrooms.

Even though this is all new and some things are initially scary, like the dishwasher, tv and washing machine, I think I’m gonna like it here.  I guess it’s just gonna take me sometime to adjust to city life.

Love,

Ollie
